Warm Hearts. Warming Others.

The winters in Washington, D.C. are very cold and wet.  To help the homeless, Neighbors' Consejo's bilingual outreach team takes to the streets and alleys of Columbia Heights, Mount Pleasant, and Adams Morgan to provide hundreds of blankets and establish relationships with homeless individuals.  One of every three homeless individuals accepted transportation in our Neighbors' Consejo's van to nearby hypothermia shelter facilities.

Goal

Neighbors' Consejo's Hypothermia Outreach Program goal is to provide 500 blankets for men and women living on the streets.

Partnerships

Neighbors' Consejo works in partnership with Meridian Hill Baptist Church, Sacred Heart Church, and La Casa Shelter to prevent hypothermia among the D.C. homeless population.

Funding Source

The Hypothermia Outreach Program is funded by the D.C. Department of Human Services and the Community Partnership for the Prevention of Homelessness.
