The Workforce Development Program dynamically combines vocational training and advocacy services that prepare homeless and unemployed individuals to enter the workforce. Through individual case management, group-level educational workshops, vocational training services, and job placement, Neighbors' Consejo empowers our clients to overcome professional obstacles that persist in the Latino community.

The Academy - La Academia
The Academy or Academia means a place to learn and grow. Our programs provide different courses and training programs to help Latino and non-Latinos meet the needs found within today's diverse workforce. We provides ESL and literacy courses, conducted in both English and Spanish. This program teaches individuals the fundamental communication skills necessary to integrate in the U.S. One of our goals is for our clients to become proficient in the English language; and hopefully, one day become U.S. citizens.

Our computer classes consist of courses covering a wide range of computer skills and education from basic to intermediate business curriculum . They learn MS-Windows , Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access. They also learn how to manage software applications for projects in and out of the workplace. We want our clients to become proficient users in the Microsoft platform environment.
Neighbors' Consejo is the only agency that offers intensive vocational training program conducted in Spanish in the District of Columbia for adults preparing to enter the food service industry. We help our clients complete the Food Handler class to successfully pass the International Food Safety Council (IFSC) licensing exam. We encourage our clients to become entrepreneurs by having a timelime and achieve short term and long career goals.
