Employment Opportunities at Neighbors’ Consejo Neighbors’ Consejo is a not-for-profit community-based organization committed to breaking the cycle of homelessness, addiction, and poverty among the most vulnerable members of the Latino community in Washington, D.C. We achieve our mission by providing services such as street outreach, case management, transitional housing, addiction and mental health treatment, basic literacy, English as a Second Language, and employment related trainings such as computer literacy, job readiness and food handler certification. Neighbors’ Consejo operates Washington, D.C.’s only state-of-the art multi-disciplinary residential substance abuse treatment program for Spanish-speakers which includes: addition and mental health treatment, literacy and vocational education, acupuncture, meditation, and coordination of medical care. Staff Nurse Neighbors’ Consejo is seeking a staff nurse for our residential substance abuse treatment program. Main responsibilities include monitoring the health status of program participants, administer medications, and coordinate medical care and follow-up on physician recommendations. Requirements: Certified LPN / RN Graduate Licensed to practice in Washington DC, Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus. Experience working with homeless population and substance abuse issues preferred. Work 4 to five hours per day for 5 days per week (20-25 hours weekly). Compensation: From $15 to $26 per hour depending on credentials and experience. House Monitor Neighbors’ Consejo is seeking candidates for two part-time House Monitors for our residential substance abuse treatment program. House Monitors facilitate daily living activities in the residential treatment program and ensures residents’ compliance with program rules and regulations; document and report on individual and treatment client activities and interactions; and implement emergency intervention strategies as needed. Requirements: high school diploma or its equivalent; experience working with homeless men, people in recovery, and the Latino community; ability to develop and maintain a supportive culture and environment to de-escalate stressful / dangerous situations; CPR Certification; fully Spanish / English bilingual; and a driver’s license and a clean police record. Compensation: $10.50 per hour.
