History

Founded in 1994, Neighbors' Consejo is one of Washington, DC's few full-time, bilingual social-service organizations with the capacity to provide comprehensive outreach, social and mental health services, substance abuse treatment, employment counseling, and services for Spanish-speaking men and women who suffer from addiction, alcoholism, and mental health problems.

Services include:
Street Outreach: Providing a connection between care and treatment to those who need it.

Family Stabilization Program: Helping people navigate the system and providing access to social and medical services; translation; crisis intervention; housing and immigration issues.

Mental Health Care: Helping individuals and families achieve emotional wellness and stability.

Alcohol and Drug Treatment: Providing comprehensive residential, transitional, and outpatient services to help people find the road to recovery.

Employment Counseling: Training and placement--enhancing individual skills to improve the workforce.

Advocacy: Addressing the root causes of homelessness, poverty, and inequality.

Outpatient Therapeutic Clinic: Certified in 2006 by the Department of Mental Health as a Core Service Agency (CSA), we provide mental health assessments, psychiatric services, medications, and case management to those enrolled in our programs.

Substance Abuse: Certified as a Level III Non-Hospital Residential Substance Abuse Treatment Services for Adults and Level I and II Intensive Outpatient Substance Abuse Treatment Services for Adults.
